YouTube clip featuring IsraelitesThis morning my music was on random play in the car and one of my oldest favourites came to the top of the play list.  “Israelites” by Desmond Dekker.  I used to play this one a lot when I was a kid.  The fact that I never really sussed most of the lyrics didn’t matter – it was a song to make me happy and boogie about.

Unfortunately in the 80s a cassette tape manufacturer (you know the one I mean if you’re in the UK) produced an advert featuring the song and some alternative lyrics.  It was quite funny actually but the problem now is that I can’t hear the song without seeing the guy in the advert holding up the cards with the alternate lyrics and it started me giggling in the car.  Again.  That’s two days running now.
